Step 1

Choose Quality Beans: Start with high-quality coffee beans that are freshly roasted. Consider your preferred roast level (light, medium, dark) and origin (single-origin or blend) based on your taste preferences. Quality beans ensure a flavorful and aromatic brew.

Step 2

Grind Correctly: Use a burr grinder to grind your coffee beans just before brewing. The grind size depends on your brewing method. For example, use a coarse grind for French press, medium grind for drip coffee makers, and fine grind for espresso machines. Consistent grind size ensures even extraction and optimal flavour.

Step 3

Optimise Water and Ratio: Use filtered or freshly drawn cold water for brewing. The ideal coffee-to-water ratio varies but a common starting point is 1:16 (1 part coffee to 16 parts water) for drip coffee. Adjust the ratio based on your taste preferences, but maintain consistency for each brew.

Step 4

Brew with Precision: Brew your coffee using the appropriate method and equipment. Control factors like water temperature, brewing time, and agitation. For example, brew drip coffee at around 195-205°F (90-96°C) for 4-5 minutes. For espresso, maintain a brew time of 25-30 seconds with water at 195-205°F (90-96°C) under 9 bars of pressure.
